Ashley Stewart, Ed.D., a public education leader in Texas for more than 20 years, has been named Assistant Superintendent for School Administration at Boerne ISD.  Dr. Stewart’s appointment was approved by the Boerne ISD Board of Trustees in a special meeting October 26.

Stewart comes to Boerne ISD after serving as Assistant Superintendent for Leadership, Planning and Innovation at Midlothian ISD.

“Boerne ISD is gaining a wealth of experience and professional commitment with the arrival of Dr. Stewart,” Superintendent Tommy Price said.  “As our district continues to grow, the expertise Dr. Stewart has developed throughout her career will help us take strategic steps that assure we always have the best interests of our students at the forefront.”

Price indicated that the new assistant superintendent would work directly with leadership in the district’s schools to support instructional excellence and to promote both curricular and extracurricular opportunities for all students.

In her role with Midlothian ISD, Stewart was part of the leadership team that guided the planning and passage of a $268 million bond that facilitates the district’s response to growing enrollment.  She was a leader in writing the district’s strategic plan and oversaw a number of district functions that support learning and student achievement.

Previously, Stewart served as assistant superintendent for Graham ISD and San Saba ISD.

Stewart began her educational career in Wylie ISD where she taught sixth grade social studies and language arts.  She later served as elementary principal in Springtown ISD.  Early in her career, she also served as curriculum consultant for Education Service Center-Region 14 in Abilene.  In that role, she worked with schools in the area to align curriculum, provided staff development and training, and assisted with testing concerns and questions.

Stewart graduated from Abilene’s McMurry University with a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education. She later received both a Master of Science degree and a Doctorate degree in Educational Administration from Tarleton State University.

Stewart and her husband, Harper, have two children: Grace, a high school freshman, and Faith, a sixth grader.  Both will complete the semester at their current schools and enroll in Boerne schools in January.
