About Us

Dear Parents:

Welcome back to Curington Elementary where we believe  that Knowledge Empowers! While you aren't part of the teaching staff you are just as important to your children's education as we are. Your children receive the best education when you and our dedicated teachers work as a team. It's a parent’s enthusiasm, support and involvement that inspires children to do their best; and a teacher's ability to teach mandated curriculum and beyond that makes CES a dynamic educational environment. Together we can achieve wonderful things. We embrace teaching your child as a privilege as well as a tremendous responsibility.  We will do our best to ensure that each student has a motivating and safe learning experience here at Curington and ask that in return each of you will encourage your child by ensuring that they are at school on time everyday with completed homework assignments.

The issue of homework brings to mind several common problems.  Children forgetting to copy down or remember what the assignments are; forgetting to bring homework home; failing to do homework; and failing to turn in completed assignments are issues that turn homework into a nightmare for both parents and children.  If these are issues you face, here are some ways you can deal more effectively with these concerns:

·   Set a regular time for doing homework.  It is best to have your child do his/her
homework at the same time every day.
·   Check and approve homework before your child goes out to play.
·   Eliminate distracters by turning off the radio and television.
·   Be willing to help but don’t do your child’s work.  If you feel your child needs help,
take up a new problem similar to the homework problem, show him/her how to do
it, then have your child solve the original problem on his/her own.

In closing, I encourage you to fully embrace the moment as many of you did for our tremendous Walkathon and urge you to take the time from your busy schedule to become familiar with our school on a regular basis. Thank you for your commitment to your child's education and I look forward to seeing you in the very near future.

 Sincerely,

Jean Perry
