What is the purpose of a prekindergarten program?
The district’s prekindergarten program is designed to develop skills necessary for success in the regular public school curriculum, including language, mathematics, and social skills. By law, a school district must offer prekindergarten if it identified 15 or more children who are eligible and are four years of age by September 1 of the current school year. A school district is not required to serve eligible three-year-old students.
